Use every outgoing piece of paper as a business promotion. You’re sending it out anyway, so why not make it work for you? Make sure your business name, logo, phone and fax numbers, email address, web address and slogan appear on ALL the following:
Business Cards: Do you think complete contact information on a business card is a no-brainer? You'll be surprised at how many are in circulation with incomplete or outdated information. This very economical piece of paper is probably the first opportunity you have to impress a prospect, so make sure your card is accurate and up to date. If not, invest in new ones right away. Please, no strike-through or penned-in changes!
Receipts, Invoices and Statements: Many times this document is filed away for future reference, and may be the first place a customer looks when seeking to reorder. For the most professional look, add a logo and your slogan. If you mail service invoices at regular intervals, this is a great way to notify customers of special sales, ongoing referral incentives, and pass along holiday greetings. Remember to always include a "Thank You!".
Note Cards: If networking marketing is how you bring in new business, you may be going through hundreds of note cards per year. A professionally printed note card and matching envelope, emblazoned with your company logo, is a sure fire way to make a good impression when following up with a brand new prospect. Tuck in a matching promotional product (with the same logo, company colors, and your correct contact information) for added impact.
Letterhead and Envelopes: While today's color printers make it possible to print an okay-looking letterhead as part of document preparation, printing the matching envelope is not as simple. For this reason, many companies are stuffing self-printed letterhead into professionally printed envelopes. If so, purchase paper that matches the envelopes. The logo, slogan and contact information should also match all of your other business documents.
Sticky Notes: How many of these does your office go through in a year? When purchased in bulk, you can have these every day notes converted into traveling billboards by adding your logo, business slogan and contact information. 25-sheet pads of sticky notes may be added to a one page letter or note card without increasing the postage, so include the whole pad and let your customers and prospects help spread your business message!
Shipping Labels: Speaking of traveling billboards, how many eyes see a package between origination and destination? To make sure they get the message about your business in one quick glance, use a shipping label that includes a logo and business slogan. Don;t do much shipping? Add impact to a direct mail piece by using a larger envelope with your attractive and impressive shipping label front and center.
Bags and Boxes: With today's trend toward the environmentally friendly, you can make a big impression by presenting their purchases in a reusable or recycled bag or box. Again, you'll want to be sure to have your logo and contact information attractively imprinted on these items. When customized with your business message, your budget for bags and boxes becomes an investment in marketing that might actually bring some return, rather than a constant expense.
Even a very small business can have an image as professional as a Fortune 500 company... simply by being consistent with their brand and contact information on every piece of paper they give away... and you don't have to go billions of dollars in debt to do it!
